Build your own pages

Every trade, journal day, backtest session, playbook, account and instrument in Chartnaut can carry pages you design yourself. You describe what you want to see, the agent builds it, and from then on it sits on every page of that kind, working on that page's own data.

That is a view. Ask for "How far did price run after I exited, in R?" on one trade, and every trade you open has the answer for that trade.

Your questions, on the page

Every trader has questions they keep asking about their own trading. Did I leave money on the table? Which hours cost me? Does this setup work better on BTC than on ETH? Usually the answer lives in a spreadsheet you update when you remember to.

A view puts the question on the page where you would ask it. Write it once, and it answers again for every trade, every day and every session from then on, including the ones you have not taken yet.

Where views go

Six kinds of page take views. On trades, journal days and instruments a view is a tab, added with + View. On backtest sessions, accounts and playbooks it is a report: open Reports and click Create custom report.

One view, every page

A view is written once and runs on whichever page you open it on. A drawdown view added to one account shows each account's own drawdown. A breakdown added to one playbook shows the playbook you are looking at.

Views are yours. Adding one puts it on every page of that kind for you, and nobody else sees it on their pages.

Views and apps

Views and apps are built the same way, by the agent, and both are listed in Tools → Apps. They differ in where they open.

  • A view is made for one kind of page and opens inside it, on that page's trade, day, session, playbook, account or instrument.

  • An app is a page of its own. You open it from Tools → Apps, and it shows whatever it was built to show: a pre-market briefing, a ranking of all your playbooks, a watchlist screener.

Every view is an app that declares which kind of page it reads. Build your first app walks through a standalone one.

Two ways to build

Click + View or Create custom report, describe the view and press Build. Chartnaut then asks How should it be built?

  • Build it for me is for simple, well-defined views: a table, a breakdown, one chart. The agent will build it on its own and add it to the page when it is ready. It is not live yet, so build with Build it with me for now.

  • Build it with me is for anything with several parts or custom logic. The app builder opens with your description already sent to the agent, previewing the page you came from. You watch it work, test it, steer it in the chat, and press Publish when it is right.

One of the two is marked Suggested, based on how involved your description is. Tick Don't ask again and Build becomes a button for your chosen way, with the other one in its menu. Add a view covers both in detail.

Views other people built

Under the description box, Explore community views lists the public views made for this kind of page. Each one previews on the page you are on, so you see it working on your own trade or day before you add it. Views you have already built for this kind of page are listed under Your views, one click to add. Community views has more.

Every view and app declares what data it touches before it runs. What views and apps can see and change explains what that covers.

Taking a view off

On a trade, journal day or instrument, hover the view's tab and click its ×. On a report page, click the × on the view's row. It comes off every page of that kind and stays in Tools → Apps, so + View lists it again under Your views whenever you want it back.

Ideas worth building

Start with the question you ask most often. A few that traders build first:

  • On a trade: where price went in the hour after you exited, measured in R.

  • On a journal day: your P&L by hour, next to how many trades you took in each.

  • On a backtest session: win rate by weekday, to see whether the session's result leans on one day.

  • On an account: how long each drawdown took to recover.

  • On a playbook: the trades where you broke a rule, and what they cost.

  • On an instrument: your results on that market by session, London against New York.
