Views on trades

A view on a trade answers a question about one closed trade, and answers it again for every trade you open. It sits as a tab beside Overview and Details in the trade detail pane.

What it works on

The view is handed the trade you are looking at: its symbol, side, entry and exit prices, open and close times, and the R it made, along with the session, playbook and instrument it belongs to.

From there it can read the rest of your data around that trade:

• the market's bars before, during and after the trade

• the trade's fills and orders

• how far it went for you and against you while it was open, in R and in money

• your notes, tags and custom fields

• a definition's events on that market

Trade views read closed trades only.

Ideas worth building

Each of these is a description to type into + View.

• How far did price run after I exited, in R? Show the furthest point in my direction in the hour after the exit, and when it got there. Tells you whether you are leaving money on the table.

• Show the best and worst R this trade reached while it was open, next to the R I closed it at. Your heat and your give-back on one line.

• Was I tilting before this trade? List my five trades before it with their results and the minutes between each. Catches revenge trades after a loss.

• Where did my entry sit in the day's range and in the first hour's range, as a percentage? Shows whether you buy highs and sell lows.

• Did my London sweep of the Asia high fire on this market in the hour before my entry? Checks the trade against your own definition.

• Replay this trade on the chart with my indicators. The price action around the trade, drawn inside the tab.

Adding one

1. Open Trading → Trades and click a closed trade.

2. Click + View in its tabs.

3. Describe the view, press Build and choose Build it with me.
