Connect cTrader

Connect your cTrader accounts and Chartnaut can place orders at your broker from Charts and journal every fill without you copying anything across. You sign in with your cTrader ID on cTrader's own page, so Chartnaut never sees your cTrader password.

Your cTrader ID is the login you use for cTrader itself, not the account number or password your broker sent you. One sign-in can link several accounts. Each cTrader account you link uses one live slot while it is switched on, from the same allowance as MetaTrader: Starter has 1, Pro 2 and Ultra 4. How accounts work explains slots and pausing.

Before you start: one cTrader ID

cTrader shows Chartnaut only the trading accounts linked to the cTrader ID you sign in with. If your accounts sit under more than one cTrader ID, for example one per broker or prop firm, link them all to your main cTrader ID in cTrader first. Then sign in to Chartnaut once with that ID and pick every account from one list.

You can sign in with each cTrader ID separately instead. Each one becomes its own connection in Chartnaut, so when access expires you re-authorize each one, with its own cTrader ID. And if you later move those accounts under one ID, Chartnaut refuses to link them while they are split across two connections, until you delete the accounts on one of them. Deleting removes their imported trades, so link everything to one cTrader ID before you connect.

Connect it

  1. Open Trading → Accounts.

  2. Click Connect account.

  3. On What do you want to do?, choose Connect an existing account.

  4. On Which platform?, choose cTrader.

  5. Click Connect with cTrader. cTrader opens and asks you to sign in with your cTrader ID.

  6. Sign in and grant Chartnaut access. Chartnaut picks up your accounts when you are done. In the desktop app the sign-in opens in your browser, and Chartnaut waits for you to finish there.

  7. Tick the accounts you want to trade. They are grouped under Live and Demo, each with its broker, login, currency and balance.

  8. Change the label under a ticked account if you want something you will recognise, such as "Main" or "Funded".

  9. Under Trade history, leave Sync past trades into Chartnaut ticked to import your closed trades, and pick a Lookback.

  10. Click Link account, or Link 2 accounts when you ticked more than one.

The account list waits 15 minutes for your pick. After that, connect again.

Above the button, the picker tells you how many live slots are free. Tick more accounts than you have slots and it asks you to choose fewer, or disable an account first.

Each account carries a badge for how it holds positions: Hedged, Netted or Spread betting. Chartnaut trades hedged and netted accounts. It cannot trade spread-betting accounts yet, and refuses to link them.

An account marked Already linked is connected to Chartnaut already. One marked Unavailable is linked to another Chartnaut user and cannot be ticked.

After it connects

The accounts appear on the Accounts page. If you left the sync ticked, the history import starts straight away. Chartnaut then needs you to link each broker symbol you traded to a Chartnaut instrument, once, exactly as with MetaTrader. Symbol mapping and History import cover both steps.

To trade, open Trading → Charts, hover Select Account and choose the account.

To add an account you opened later, connect again with the same cTrader ID and tick the new one. It joins the same connection.

Re-authorize when access ends

cTrader access can expire, or you can revoke it from your cTrader ID. The account then shows Error, and its page reads This broker connection failed.

  1. Click the account.

  2. Click Re-authorize with cTrader.

  3. Sign in on cTrader's page with the same cTrader ID you linked, and grant access.

Every account from that sign-in reconnects. Re-authorizing replaces the access on the same connection, so your accounts keep their trades, labels and symbol links. Re-authorize with cTrader is also on the account's row on the Accounts page and on its Settings tab.
