Custom fields

Custom fields (shown as Properties on each trade) add structured columns to your journal — setup grade, session type, rule followed, and anything else you want to filter and sort on.

Think of them as extra columns on your trade spreadsheet, filled per trade.

What you get

  • Typed fields: text, number, yes/no, single select, multi select, date

  • Filterable and sortable columns in the Trades library table

  • Consistent metadata across hundreds of trades

Create a field

  1. Open any trade in Research → Trades

  2. Scroll to Properties

  3. Click Add property or Manage properties

  4. Choose a type and name — for example Setup grade (select: A / B / C)

  5. Save

The field appears on every trade. Fill it in per trade from the detail pane.

Fill and edit values

Open a trade → Properties → set the value. Autosaves.

Bulk edit is not required for day one — pick five trades a session and fill properties during review.

Filter by properties

  1. Open Research → Trades

  2. Add a property filter from the filter bar

  3. Combine with tags, instrument, and date filters

Use properties for “show me every trade where Followed plan? = No.”

Limits

Plans cap how many custom fields you can create. Check Settings → Subscription for your limit.

What good looks like

You filter Setup grade = A and Session = London, sort by P&L, and review whether A-setups actually outperform — without rereading every note.

Important distinctions

Properties (custom fields) = structured, filterable columns on trades.

Tags = lightweight labels — fast to add, less structured. See Notes and tags.

Note templates = reusable note bodies — not filter columns. See Note templates.

Research event payloads on Definition datasets are a separate concept — not trade properties.
