Agent workspace
The agent workspace is where the agent keeps the files it works out while working with your data. Each conversation has its own, and these limits cap how much they hold.
Free | Starter | Pro | Ultra | |

Free has no agent, so it has no workspace. Sizes count what the agent's program produced, before Chartnaut compresses it for storage.
Each program
Every program the agent runs has limits of its own, the same on every plan:
Limit | |
|---|---|
Running time | 30 seconds |
Data it can read | 4 times your largest file |
Data it can write | 2 times your largest file |
What it prints to the chat | 16 KB |
A program also takes one of your runs at once while it runs. If every slot stays busy for 20 seconds, the program does not start and the agent tells you to try again when a run has finished.
When the space fills up
Chartnaut clears room before you run out. When your files pass 90% of your space across all conversations, the oldest are cleared until you are back under 75%. If one new file still does not fit, Chartnaut clears just enough to make room for it.
Files are cleared in this order:
Files from conversations you have deleted.
Files from the conversations you used least recently.
Within those, files the agent can rebuild come before notes it wrote by hand.
Then the files read least recently.
Files the current program is using are never cleared. A cleared file leaves a note saying what it was, when it went and how to rebuild it.
The space in one conversation works differently: when it is full, nothing is cleared. The agent is told, and removes files it no longer needs or works with less data.
What happens to old files
A conversation's files are cleared 30 days after it was last used. Sending a message, or the agent reading or writing a file, counts as use and restarts the 30 days. Deleting a conversation leaves its files for the same 30 days, first in line to be cleared.
When a limit is reached
Nothing is written when a file would break a limit: the agent is told which limit, how much space the file needs and how much is in use. It then writes less, for example a summary instead of every row, or removes files it no longer needs. You do not need to do anything.
To get more space, upgrade. A new plan's limits apply to the next file the agent writes.
