Chartnaut Desktop

Chartnaut Desktop is the Chartnaut app for Windows. It opens the same Chartnaut you use at terminal.chartnaut.com in a window of its own, and adds the one thing a browser cannot do: run Chartnaut's AI on your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. Chartnaut recommends it for everyone who can install it.

Why Chartnaut recommends it

Run the AI on a subscription you already pay for. Connect Claude Code or Codex under Settings → AI providers, and the agent, the builders' chats and every other chat run on that subscription. No AI credits are spent. This works only in Desktop because your provider sign-in is stored on your own computer, where a web page cannot reach it. Use your own AI subscription walks through it.

Everything else is the same. Desktop loads the same app as the browser, so Charts, trading, the journal, research and apps behave exactly as they do there. You give nothing up by switching.

A window of its own. Chartnaut stays out of your browser tabs, reopens at the size and position you left it, and opening it a second time brings the open window forward.

It keeps itself up to date. Updates download in the background, and Chartnaut asks before it restarts.

Install on Windows

Desktop runs on Windows 10 or later. One installer covers both regular (x64) and ARM PCs.

  1. Open chartnaut.com/download.

  2. Under Windows, click Download.

  3. A dialog, Windows may ask you to confirm, shows the Windows screen that can come next. Click Got it, download. The file is named Chartnaut-Setup- followed by the version, for example Chartnaut-Setup-1.0.4.exe.

  4. Open the file.

  5. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info, check that Publisher reads TWO INFINITY LTD, then click Run anyway.

  6. The installer runs on its own, with no questions and no administrator prompt, and Chartnaut opens when it finishes.

Windows shows that blue screen because Chartnaut is a new publisher, and Windows warns about installers it has not seen many downloads of. The installer is signed by TWO INFINITY LTD, the company behind Chartnaut. If the publisher reads anything else, do not run it.

Chartnaut installs for your Windows user only and appears in the Start menu.

On a Mac

Chartnaut Desktop for Mac is coming soon. Until then, use Chartnaut in your browser: everything except running the AI on your own subscription works there. The CLI already runs on macOS.

Sign in with the same account you use in the browser.

  • Continue with Google opens Google in your usual browser. Finish signing in there, and the Chartnaut window carries on by itself. If you do not finish within five minutes, the sign-in stops and you can try again.

  • Or type your email and password and click Sign In.

Desktop keeps its own sign-in, separate from your browser, so you sign in once in each. Your timezone and theme are saved separately too: set them again the first time you open Desktop.

To use your own AI subscription, open Settings → AI providers in the sidebar and follow Use your own AI subscription. Chartnaut's AI needs Starter or above, on your own subscription as well as on credits. Desktop must be open for the subscription to serve your chats.

Updates

Chartnaut looks for an update when it opens and every six hours after that, and downloads it in the background. When one is ready, a dialog, An update is ready, offers Restart now or Later. Later installs it the next time you quit Chartnaut.

Chartnaut never restarts in the middle of an AI reply running on your subscription, or while you are signing in to an AI provider. It waits for them to finish. If your version is too old for Chartnaut's servers, it installs the update without asking, as soon as nothing is running.

On a large or 4K monitor, Chartnaut picks a bigger zoom by itself so the app is not tiny, and it remembers your own zoom for next time. Links to other websites open in your browser, not in Chartnaut. Desktop needs an internet connection, the same as the browser.

Uninstall

  1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps. On Windows 10 it is Settings → Apps → Apps & features.

  2. Find Chartnaut and click Uninstall.

Uninstalling leaves the folder %APPDATA%\Chartnaut, which holds your sign-in, the chart data Chartnaut cached and your connected AI provider accounts. Delete that folder to remove them from the computer. To revoke a provider's access completely, sign out with the provider as well.

When it goes wrong

  • Can't reach Chartnaut: the window could not load Chartnaut. Check your internet connection and click Retry.

  • Chartnaut couldn't open your browser: open your browser yourself, then click Continue with Google again.

  • Sign-in timed out waiting for your browser: the five minutes ran out. Click Continue with Google again.

  • Chartnaut Desktop needs an update to use it in a chat: your provider has a model this version cannot serve yet. Chartnaut checks for an update straight away; restart when it offers.

  • Problems connecting Claude or Codex: see Use your own AI subscription.

If you contact support, the app's log helps. It is at %APPDATA%\Chartnaut\logs\main.log.
