Indicators on the chart
Indicators on the Terminal chart help you read structure, momentum, and levels while you trade or practice.
Add built-in or custom indicators per panel. Configure inputs, hide or show them, and save layouts inside your chartbook.
Add an indicator
Open Trading → Terminal
Select the chart panel you want
Open the Indicators menu on that panel
Search or browse the list
Click to add — defaults apply immediately
Open indicator settings to change length, source, colors, or visibility per pane.
Built-in vs custom
Built-in indicators ship with Chartnaut — moving averages, RSI, VWAP, and similar staples.
Custom indicators are ones you or the community authored under Research → Indicators. Yours appear in the same picker once saved.
Agents can help you build custom indicators. You can author them yourself in the indicator builder. Same tools either way.
Presets and pane layout
Many indicators support multiple outputs (lines, histograms, bands). Chartnaut places each output on the price pane or a sub-pane below.
Drag or use pane controls to move an indicator between overlays and sub-panes
Toggle visibility without removing the indicator
Remove an indicator from the same menu when you no longer need it
While trading
Indicators recalculate as new bars form in Real-time and as Replay advances in Replay.
Heavy custom scripts may slow rendering on many panels — keep practice layouts lean until you need more.
Build your own
When off-the-shelf indicators are not enough:
Go to Research → Indicators
Create a new indicator (AI-assisted or code)
Save and return to the Terminal — it appears in your picker
Terminal docs cover using indicators. The Research tab covers authoring them.
Important distinctions
Indicators on the chart are live overlays and sub-pane studies.
Forward Insights (from Research definitions and studies) are a separate feature — hypothesis results pinned onto the chart while you trade.
Definitions mark setups in history for research Collect — not the same as adding RSI to a panel.
