feature
Market data
Before you trade or replay, Chartnaut needs market data for your instruments — live quotes in Real-time, historical bars in Replay.
Most of the time this happens automatically. When it does not, you will see a preparing or loading state instead of a blank chart.
What you will see
Preparing market data — Chartnaut is fetching or warming history and quotes for the symbols on your chart.
Ready — candles or advanced chart types render and update normally.
Problem state — outage message, retry control, or instrument not available. Fix the instrument, account, or connection before trading.
Real-time data
In Terminal → Real-time:
Connect MetaTrader or Chartnaut Demo under Trading → Accounts
Pick that account in the Terminal toolbar
Add an instrument your broker supports
Wait for the preparing screen to clear
Live quotes come from your broker connection. Wrong or unlinked symbols may stall or show errors — see Symbol Linking for MetaTrader.
Replay data
In Terminal → Replay:
Start from a session under Trading → Backtest or a Playbook practice session
Open Replay with that session loaded
Chartnaut loads the session's historical range for chosen instruments
Replay does not need a live broker for data — it needs a valid session with instruments configured.
If data stays stuck
Try in order:
Refresh the chart or reload the page
Confirm the instrument exists for your broker (Real-time) or session (Replay)
Check account connection — reconnect under Trading → Accounts if Real-time
Remove and re-add the symbol to the chart
For MetaTrader, complete Symbol Linking before the first trade on a new market
Persistent failures after retry usually mean broker maintenance, plan limits on historical depth, or an unsupported symbol.
Plan and depth limits
Historical depth for charts and backtests depends on your subscription tier. Shorter history on Starter is normal — upgrade only if you genuinely need more range.
Important distinctions
Market data is about quotes and bars reaching the chart.
Broker accounts is about how many live broker links you can hold — managed under Trading → Accounts and Settings → Subscription.
Demo still uses live ticks — it is not the same as Replay on a Backtest session.
Next
Trade in real-time — once data is live
Continue your backtesting — practice data path
