Overview
Broker accounts connect Chartnaut to markets you can trade in the Terminal — MetaTrader (MT4/MT5 today) and Chartnaut Demo. More brokers are coming soon.
Manage connections under Trading → Accounts. Pick the active account in Terminal → Real-time when you trade.
Why connect
Route live orders from the Terminal to a broker
Stream real-time quotes for charting and execution
Journal fills automatically in Research → Trades
Practice on history does not need a broker — use Backtest and Terminal → Replay instead.
Account types
Chartnaut Demo — live market ticks with virtual money. Usually free for Broker Capacity. Best first step for Real-time without capital risk.
MetaTrader — your real broker login. Real money at risk. Uses Broker Capacity while connected. Needs Symbol Linking so each chart market matches a broker symbol.
Accounts page vs Terminal picker
Trading → Accounts — connect, disconnect, rename, disable, review capacity, open Manage Account reports.
Terminal → Real-time — pick which connected account is active for this chart session.
You can connect multiple accounts (within plan limits) but trade one active account at a time in the Terminal.
Typical paths
Learn Real-time Chartnaut Demo → Terminal Real-time → small practice trades → review in Trades.
Trade live MetaTrader → Symbol Linking on first use → Terminal Real-time → journal in Trades.
Practice on history only Skip Accounts for now → Trading → Backtest → Terminal Replay.
Important distinctions
Demo = live ticks, virtual balance. Backtest = historical session — no broker link needed.
Broker Capacity limits live MetaTrader connections per plan — not the same as AI usage credits.
Connecting an account does not create a backtest session.
