From live trade to journal

Every live, demo, and practice fill in Chartnaut becomes a trade in Research → Trades — your journal with notes, tags, thumbnails, and chart context.

The job after you flatten: capture what happened while it is still obvious.

What lands automatically

When you trade in Terminal → Real-time (MetaTrader or Demo):

  • Fill times, prices, size, and P&L sync to Trades

  • Open and closed positions update as the broker reports them

  • Chart snapshots may capture at key moments when the product records them

Replay and playbook collection trades journal the same way — different origin labels, same library.

Open your trade

  1. Go to Research → Trades

  2. Find the newest row — sort by time or filter by account

  3. Click to open the detail split pane

From Manage Account or Manage Session, deep links may open Trades pre-filtered.

What to add manually

Notes — one honest sentence beats a paragraph. What did you see? What did you do wrong?

Tags — playbook vocabulary or ad-hoc labels for filtering later.

Playbook link — assign the trade to a strategy book when it belongs there.

Custom properties — optional fields you defined (session type, news, etc.).

Autosave applies on most fields — wait for save confirmation on slow networks.

Thumbnails and position replay

Snapshots — still images of chart state.

Interactive position replay — scroll the market around that one position.

Use replay to verify your note matches price action — see Position replay.

Feed the rest of Chartnaut

Tagged trades in a Playbook roll into reports and Historical Intelligence when training sources include them.

Research studies do not replace journaling — they consume different data. Journal first.

Habits that scale

  1. Flatten in Terminal

  2. Open Trades within the same hour

  3. Note + tag before opening the next setup

  4. Weekly review filtered by playbook or account

Three reviewed live trades per week beat fifty unlabeled fills.

Important distinctions

Trades library = global journal across origins.

Data Explorer = one playbook collection session only.

Position replay reviews one trade — does not create a new journal entry.

Demo and live both journal — filter by account if you want practice separate.
