Overview

Research in Chartnaut turns a trading idea into evidence — define a setup, gather where it appeared in history, measure what usually happens, then show the answer on your live chart.

Chartnaut is an agent-powered trading environment. You can run every research step yourself. Agents use the same Definitions, datasets, studies, and pins.

The stack

DefineCollect → Study → Pin on chart
  1. Define — write a Definition that marks when your setup appears

  2. Collect — run it over history to build a dataset of events

  3. Study — ask what happens after those events (win rate, excursion, time to target)

  4. Pin — put the study on your Terminal chart so results appear while you trade

Agents can help

Conductor sequences the research path — author a Definition, collect events, run a study, propose a pin. You approve each step.

You can also open the Definition Builder or Study builder directly and skip Conductor.

Same tools either way.

What good looks like

You define “opening range break with volume spike,” collect six months of ES events, run a study on average R in the first hour, and pin the stats to your NQ chart for the London session.

Important distinctions

Research Collect = gather setup events from a Definition.

Playbook Collecting Data = log your trades for Historical Intelligence — different job from Research Collect.

In-terminal pin = study stats on your Terminal chart. Pinned collection = a saved set of trades in the Trades library — different meaning of “pin.” See Pinned collections.
