Example journeys

Three short research journeys a retail trader might run in Chartnaut — from idea to chart overlay. Same stack each time: define → collect → study → pin.

Chartnaut is an agent-powered trading environment. Run every step yourself or drive one thread in Conductor.

Journey 1 — Opening range break (ES, intraday)

Goal: Know if first break of the opening range reaches +1R within 15 bars.

  1. Create a definition — AI describes “15-minute ORB break with volume above average”

  2. Snapshot and collect six months of ES 5m

  3. Create study — hit rate to +1R in 15 bars, long vs short cohorts

  4. Run and event review ten random events

  5. Put on chart during London Real-time

Outcome: Click today’s break bar; see historical hit rate before you enter.

Journey 2 — Clone community VWAP fade (FX)

Goal: Test a shared VWAP fade script on GBPUSD before trading it live.

  1. Community → clone a VWAP fade definition

  2. Import a community indicator if the definition needs it

  3. Collect on GBPUSD 15m for one year

  4. Study average MAE/MFE in 20 bars

  5. Pin only if review matches your risk — otherwise edit in Definition Builder and recollect

Outcome: Evidence-based go/no-go on a strategy you did not code from scratch.

Journey 3 — Friday review → Monday pin (playbook + research)

Goal: Connect journal habits to research output.

  1. Week in Trades — tag setups orb and pullback (notes and tags)

  2. Weekend: define pullback formally if tags prove the idea repeats

  3. Collect and study separately for orb vs pullback emits

  4. Monday: pin the stronger study to Terminal Replay first, then Real-time

Outcome: Journal tags informed the definition; research pin informs the next week’s sessions.
